Locations · Mr Musaab Yassin, Consultant Urological Surgeon

Two consulting rooms, one practice.

I see private patients at The Manor in Oxford and at The Lister in Chelsea. The care is the same in both places — the same assessment, the same surgeon, the same follow-up. What differs is only how far you travel and where you park. This page tells you exactly what to expect at each door.

Choose on the journey, not on the medicine.

Patients often ask which site is “better” for their problem. In almost every case the honest answer is that it makes no clinical difference. Both hospitals have the theatres, imaging and nursing teams the work requires, and I move between them each week.

So the sensible question is the practical one: which is easier for you to reach, on a weekday, possibly twice — once for the consultation and once for the procedure? If you are driving, Oxford is usually simpler: there is a car park under the building. If you are coming by rail or Underground, Chelsea is straightforward — Sloane Square, Victoria and Pimlico all serve it.

If your insurer or employer has a preferred hospital, tell my secretary early and we will work around it.

Getting here

By car

From the Headington roundabout, take the A420 exit signed City Centre and Headington Hospitals. Continue past the shops, turn right into Sandfield Road, then take the first right into Beech Road. The hospital is on your left.

Parking

There is limited free underground parking beneath the hospital. Spaces go quickly in clinic hours, so allow 20–30 minutes beyond your travel time. Register your registration number at the console in reception when you arrive. If the car park is full, Headington Pay & Display is about ten minutes on foot.

By train

Oxford and Oxford Parkway stations are both a short taxi ride, or a bus into Headington. Reception can call a taxi for your return journey.

By bus

Headington is well served from the city centre and the park-and-ride sites by the Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach. Alight on London Road by the shops and walk down Sandfield Road — roughly five minutes.

The one thing patients tell me they wish they had known: arrive earlier than feels necessary. Parking, not traffic, is what makes people late to The Manor. If you do run behind, call ahead — we will hold your slot where we can.

My own clinics sit within these hours; my secretary will confirm the days currently running.

Report to the main reception in the entrance hall. You will be shown to the outpatient waiting area, where there is a balcony café if you have arrived early or are waiting with someone. Consultations run in a private room; if a flexible cystoscopy or ultrasound is needed, it is usually done in the same visit rather than booked for another day.

Getting here

By tube

Sloane Square (District and Circle), Victoria and Pimlico all serve the hospital. From Sloane Square, walk down Lower Sloane Street and continue along Chelsea Bridge Road; the hospital is on your left before the bridge.

By train

Victoria is the nearest terminus — a short walk or one stop on the Underground. Coming down from Oxford, take the train to Paddington and change onto the Circle or District line for Sloane Square.

By bus

Routes 44, 137, 211, 360 and 452 stop nearby. The 137 and 452 run along Chelsea Bridge Road itself.

By car

There is no hospital car park. The nearest is the Battersea Park car park, about five minutes on foot across Chelsea Bridge. There are also metered bays in the surrounding streets, though they fill early on weekdays.

Good news if you are driving in: Chelsea Bridge Road sits outside the Congestion Charge zone — the boundary lies well to the east, at Vauxhall Bridge Road. The ULEZ still applies, as it does across the whole of Greater London, so check your vehicle on tfl.gov.uk before you set off.

Inpatients are cared for around the clock; these are the hours for arriving as an outpatient.

On the day

The entrance is on Chelsea Bridge Road. Reception will direct you to the outpatient floor. There is an on-site pharmacy, so any prescription I write after your consultation can usually be dispensed before you leave rather than posted on.

Imaging and endoscopy are both in the building — full-body MRI and a dedicated, air-conditioned endoscopy unit — which is why a flexible cystoscopy or a scan can often be folded into the same visit rather than booked for another day. If surgery follows, it takes place here too, in a private en-suite room.

Coming from further afield

A number of my patients travel a considerable distance, particularly for fertility microsurgery and for reconstructive work. If that is you, it is worth saying so when you book. Where it is clinically sensible, we can compress the pathway — consultation, scan and semen analysis on the same day, rather than three separate journeys — and hold the results conversation by video afterwards.

Both hospitals can arrange overnight accommodation nearby, and my secretary keeps a list of guest houses within walking distance of The Manor and hotels close to Chelsea Bridge Road. Please ask rather than assume; it is easier to build a plan around your travel at the outset than to rearrange it later.

Not sure which site to choose?

Ring the practice and describe your journey. My secretary books at both hospitals and will find the appointment that costs you the least travel.
